Jesus Is Alive Ministries (JIAM) is a ministry that is dedicated to doing a work for God. We are determined to spread the Word of God, win souls for the kingdom of God, and show the love of God through our actions. We endeavor to be used as God’s extended hands to the people.
Jesus Is Alive Ministries was formed by Janis F. Byrd on June 1, 1996 in her home. God had spoken to Sis. Byrd: “When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.” (Luke 14:12-14) The ministry was commissioned by God and began by delivering hot meals to the homeless on the streets of Chicago.
Later the ministry began to have yearly times of consecration for its members which was later open to anyone with the desire to attend. Inspired by the Holy Spirit; Sis. Byrd began to write Christian plays. These plays were performed and directed by members of various churches and ministry members. The ministry also began to travel to Pennsylvania to perform these plays.
In 2000 God directed Sis. Byrd to prepare the basement of her home to have weekly services. In January 2001 “I AM’S” Holiness Church was birthed. The church was housed in Pastor Byrd’s home for approximately two years when God spoke to Pastor Byrd to move to the east side. Pastor Byrd found a small store front and moved the church to that location in Chicago. The church grew gradually and within a few more years the Lord instructed Pastor Byrd to move the church to Gary, IN. (our current location).
Called by God to be a well rounded ministry, Jesus Is Alive Ministries is a place where the Holy Spirit called to Christ souls who were rejected, bound and hurt. Jesus Is Alive Ministries is their sanctuary for deliverance, healing, restoration and maturity. We reach out to people of all races, backgrounds and even other faiths. All are accepted and given the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Ministry now encompasses: “I AM’S” Holiness Church, Helping Hands Outreach Ministry, Fruit of the Womb Youth Ministry, and Can You See What I’m Saying Performance Ministry.
We give God all the glory for using Jesus Is Alive Ministries as a vessel to reconcile souls unto His Son and we press towards unbinding worship and obedience to Jesus Christ to whom we give all power, glory and honor. We pray that Jesus Is Alive Ministries continues to be a place of refuge, deliverance and exhortation that inspires the believer and reaches the lost.
